Week 7- Alesha Byrne
The concept that science wouldn't be what it is without our observance of said event is hardly new or incomprehensible. Robert Lanza should have re-titled his article "Perception, Use It". While I joke around about this, Lanza is right about one thing- not enough people apply the concept of perception to their every day lives. Science isn't the only field where we find people diving into their microcosm of existence. Religion and spirituality also are culprits, especially when an idea or event doesn't fit into their ideological design. Our view of the world is only transmitted through five senses and arguably, a sense of spirit. Outside of these channels, an entire multiverse of existence could be happening around us and we would never be the wiser. To help illustrate this point, I decided to include a clip of Rick And Morty's depiction of a macrocosm (which also touches on the concept of modern day slavery). While most of this series is humorous in nature, it makes some decent points about society's view of itself.

I also found it ironic that this week, the Professor decided to include all four cards that express the need for understanding that there is more going on in somebody's world than you will see, cards that ask for the reader to give what they don't know a chance. The theme of the week could arguably be The Great Unknown- that which we do not immediately understand in the universe. I wonder what our reality is weighed by to those outside of our field of perception. Is it by the rate of our deaths? What we accomplish during our lifetime? Our impact on the planet's environment? How many other species we consume? Something to consider.
