Week 7 - Matthew Mandel
In this weeks readings we look at the article A New Theory of the Universe, written by Robert Lanza as he explores the universe and identifies how certain laws of physics have created the world, and what mathematical equations can formulate as to how the existence of the universe and especially the creation of humans came to be. Lanza explores the meaning of time throughout the article as it applies to humans because we have a natural human clock that signals much of our lives, but to measure certain times in history is really hard to calculate. He later proposes that our consciousness. could exist in a way much like the universe and its so unfathomable.
For me to try and think about the human consciousness is very complex, therefore I’ve never tried to figure it out. I’ve always been one to be skeptical to believe in the spiritual side of conversations, thats why when reading this article I tend to find myself lost throughout the it. I wanna believe that physics and quantum mechanics will be able to eventually solve the mind and the universe but there is just so much unexplainable things throughout this universe that it seems impossible, when thinking about our minds being in another dimension it seems so far out. When science can’t explain certain things thats when the spiritual conversations enter and people use those conversations to come up with spiritual theories for why things are the way they are. People should probably realize that maybe things are unexplainable like our consciousness because they’re in a whole other place.
Question: Is our minds as complicated as people think, or are they use so simple and life is view as this complicated thing and we just totally missed where we came from and how our minds work?
