The future of the spirit realm studies is like The Fool. Especially for the western academia, we would be crossing oceans and stepping into an uncharted world. However, the expansion of field of studies will create waves because we will be abandoning old ideas and reevaluating things from a different point of view. “Trace the fine lines. Find where they loop and knot around you, in you, where they cut into soft flesh.”(The Lecher). Just like this quote from The Lecher, we need to retrace our knowledges. With this new knowledge we can “unmake our identities from the outside in” in order to “remake ourselves from the inside out.”(The Adoptee).

In the article “Connected: Indigenous Spirituality as Resistance in the Classroom”, the author points out that indigenous knowledges is defined through the value of connection. However, to those with different views may define their knowledge for what it was back then and can “fall prey to what Macedo (1999) calls a “blind romanticism.” (page 4). In this quote, “like a river with many tributaries, ever expanding and overflowing its boundaries, constantly charting new courses and paths.”, the author is referring to Indigenous knowledges and characteristics of their knowledges that some people choose not to see. It is essential to understand that some knowledge, even if ours may seem open minded, can be overflowing if we do not open our eyes. So if we choose to not see, the future of the spirit realm studies can cease to exist.

Question:

What can take place if in the future, the spirit realm studies do expand?
