Week 5 - Anna Le

This documentary sent me on a tailspin and now I've fallen into the rabbit hole, and I don't think I'm
coming out of it anytime soon. I have since watched many videos on DMT experiences, mostly by
Joe Rogan, and read comments and got books about it. There is so much to learn from it and I have
realized tons from my own experiences before and after watching this documentary.

I did not understand the importance of psychedelics. I used to judge people who took this route to
experience spiritual/mystical experiences or enlightenment. I judged this route, mostly out of
ignorance and arrogance. At that time, I probably wasn't able to see nor understand the profound
experiences that psychedelics can induce. I have learned a couple of things.

1. Psychedelics and/or spiritual path is not for everyone.
  • Even though I personally believe that being spiritual and having a psychedelic experience can truly change your life for the better and transform you to become a better person, I understand that not everyone wants to experience this. It is entirely okay to be "asleep" or live in the matrix, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that because that is your soul's experience and it's choice. If it wishes to not remember, because it is okay with its experience in its human form, or earthly incarnation, then that's okay.
  • Those who tend to embark on spiritual journeys or intake psychedelics (mostly to induce spiritual experiences) are seekers who choose to remember their soul's origins. Perhaps their earthly experience has been not been good nor pleasant to them that they seek to return or remember their soul's origins, or perhaps to gain wisdom so that this earthly experience is felt smoother. Another reason is probably that your soul before it reincarnated, chose to remember it's origins as a part of its journey.
  • Apart of me believes that if you are not spiritually or mentally equipped, if you are still struggling with your mind/ego/persona, you will struggle with integrating the messages, feelings, and the entire experience of psychedelics to your normal day-to-day life. If you are still attached to some aspect of yourself or to what you know of reality, you will have a hard time. Transcending into a higher existence, higher vibration will be an uncomfortable experience for those who are not vibrationally ready. Although, another part of me believes that this does not really matter if you truly are a seeker, because these profound realizations will come to you someday at the right time.
2. Psychedelics are the key to the "doors of perception."
  • It will help you understand your mind, soul, existence, etc. It will literally rip the veil of illusion, what you think you knew about this "reality" and what you knew about yourself. Psychedelics were put onto this earth for a reason, to help mankind realize their own spiritual nature. It is a gift and tool that shouldn't be abused or used recreationally, as I believe that it was put here to help us remember the wisdom that we have forgotten.

3. Psychedelics do not discriminate.
  • It does not matter if you are interested or inclined towards spirituality, if you’re a practicing Christian or meditating Buddhist, or if you’re a logical rational atheist or scientist, you will have a profound experience that is otherworldly. For lack of better words, psychedelics literally force the ascension process onto you and allows you to experience the other side, which is why the body always has a hard time adjusting at the beginning of psychedelics. For example, take shrooms or ayahuasca, you will experience feelings of nausea, heaviness, and vomiting. Your physical body has a dense vibration and when you are trying to have a mystical experience through psychedelics, you’re consciousness or vibration will need to expand and rise, thus giving rise to an uncomfortable bodily experience at the beginning of the trip.

4. Psychedelics answers your questions/needs but also leaves you with more questions than answers.
  • Every experience is special. I believe that. If you respect the experience and have the intention to be open and learn, you will gain something that you need from it.
  • Psychedelics can be a very scary experience for most people. What entails this experience is usually a sense of no self, essentially “ego death.” The after effects of this experience can be very daunting to a lot of people as it leaves someone with more existential questions than answers, which depending on the person can lead to some sort of insanity. Ultimately, the negative side effects of my understanding usually boil down to the ego’s lack of awareness and understanding without proper spiritual guidance. The positive side to this is that it can offer perspectives to one’s life and existence and make someone more humble and appreciative towards life.

5. You DO NOT have to take psychedelics to have a spiritual experience!
  • You can have spiritual experience RIGHT now while being totally SOBER. You just need to be open to the experience and yearn for it. This is the route that I’ve taken and I can tell you with certainty that this works fine too. Every journey is unique and special because you are the only one experiencing what you are going through. NO ONE ELSE! Therefore, how you will be led to your own self-realization will be unique to you. You just have to want it and I 100% believe that it will happen to you.
  • You can have a spiritual experience THROUGH meditation or other religious/spiritual practices. Meditation is designed to invoke a spiritual experience, or more accurately, self-realization. It is difficult to see how quieting one’s mind can lead to you realizing your own true nature, but I believe that this is one of the best ways. If you would like to learn more about this path, read “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. I think this book offers great insight as to how to feel or take glimpses of your true nature! In fact, it outlines it for you.

Although I have only recently learned the powerful potential of psychedelics,
I am still learning and realizing much more. I do NOT encourage the use of psychedelics!
I think that there should be a lot of research that should go into understanding the effects of psychedelics
on humans and what it could do for us.
