In Robert Lanza's written piece "The American Scholar - A New Theory of the Universe", it had me question the way I perceive life and all the knowledge humankind has created for us to conform and believe in. Moreover, he poses intriguing points such as how "science fails to recognize those special properties of life that make it fundamental to material reality" and how essentially "our science" is in fact just created by humans and we assigned this physical and mathematical basis to these scientific theories and hypothetical entities without recognizing that this is an evasion of the central mystery of knowledge. They fail to bring the authentic conscious experience that we all need into explaining these scientific theories. This, in turn, doesn't allow for us to perceive the world mindfully and spiritually. Personally, I liked how although Lanza, for the most part, used a harsh, critical tone over how science has taken over, he still managed to give credit to the benefits of scientific discovery. Moreover, his argument was more persuasive and credible that way. Humankind created their own reality in which we continue to build on. Maybe it's time to take a step back and reevaluate the way we perceive things by merging scientific thinking and the natural mysteries/spiritual thinking. This perhaps might allow for the unexplained things in life like the Spirit Realm to become clearer to us (which relates to the weekly theme of Science Catches Up to the Spirit Realm).
