I am in awe after reading the article, “A New Theory of the Universe,” by Robert Lanza, where he explains the concepts of topics such as time, space, and momentum and how these concepts are not embedded into the world, they are constructs that humans depend on to go throughout life. Science and the people within the field are always trying to come up with new theories to explain our existence or why things happen the way that they do. “…We have come more and more to believe in an objective, empirical reality and in the goal of reaching a complete understanding of that reality.”
Lanza points out that as humans we are trying to assign physical and mathematical properties to hypothetical situations that we obviously cannot fathom. Topics such as time is a rhythm that humans used to base their life around and something that we fundamentally depend on. An interesting statement that Lanza made is that humans are dependent on rhythmic patterns, such as the moon and sun rising and setting, and the flooding of the Nile. In this case, humans have incorporated the system of time and tried to prove that indeed time is real because it is physical and observable through a clock, but nonetheless, this is just a rhythmic pattern that humans are set to follow based on their busy lives. Lanza explains further that these rhythms of time are just events that are able to time other events, not necessarily prove that time is real.
