Bradley Kitaoka - Week 8
This week’s readings were interesting to me as they focused on and questioned the idea of consciousness. Consciousness is an interesting topic to talk about because it is not talked about much at all, especially in school. When we are young, we acknowledge everything that goes on in our lives with out questioning it or giving it a second thought. It is not until you are much older and take classes like this where you start to question the events happening around you. Is our life truly happening as random events everyday or are we always meant to be where we are supposed to be when we are supposed to be there? After asking this question is when you really start to how much free will to you actually have. If we are put in places exactly when are where we are supposed to by some higher power do, we have any free will at all or are we just pawns being used in a game. I feel like this type of questioning is a big reason why consciousness is not talked about more in school. I think that because the topic can be so complex and involves so much deep thinking that schools are not equipped to have these type of conversations.

Question: Is consciousness not really talked about in school because it is too complex or is it because our government doesn’t want us questioning everything?
