Emerald Vang - Week 8

For the reading of quantum physics, Walton explains how the reality that we live in is socially constructed and that our perception of life is a cause of our suffering. Reading his spirituality section, he introduces us to Forman. Forman believed that science and rationality, though a successful finding, was starting to let us down; that our "monochrome" vision of the world is the root of our problems whether be it social, economic, political, or ecological. I interpreted this as society refusing to believe in such things as the divine or the spirited because they can not be scientifically proven. In turn, the world falls before us, the unknown unable to guide us. This reading connects to a majority of what we have talked about in class. The main being that the spirit realm can help us in many ways. Though it is hard to believe, it is real and it has been part of our way of life before social construct whipped it into what it is today. Sometimes, I feel like we see the spirit realm existing and debunking science in shows or movies but rarely is it taken seriously. It's as if this way of thinking is part of a game that everyone plays, but it will always stay that way. It could be hard for people to start believing now, but being spiritually in tune can help us not only with healing but resolving problems in today's world just as Forman believes. There is purpose to connect and exist in both realities, and we can if we just allow ourselves to take a dive into it.
What strong influences or deception has lead society to cut off our spirituality and why is it always undermined when there is evidence to its existence/beliefs and its benefits?
