Week 1 - Amanda Wong

The readings from this week explore the science of Near Death Experience (NDE). It delves into the mathematics and quantum physics of the what those who have experienced near-death situations are perceiving in their conscious. The readings attempt to explain the realms of consciousness. Professor Kieu went through a NDE after having a miscarriage and fighting for tenure. In her article, “Fight the Tower: Call to Action for Women of Color in the Academy,” she was able to turn this possibly very terrifying experience into something she could learn from. The following articles attempt to explain the science behind what she shared in class. She could have been claimed clinically dead, but her consciousness was fighting for her right to return to this dimension of the hologram. This theory of the hologram being where the quantum soul exist is explained in the article, “Near Death Cases Desegregating Non-Locality/Disembodiment via Quantum Mediated Consciousness: An Extended Version of the Cell-Soul Pathway” by Contzen Pereira & J Shashi Kiran Reddy. The authors use the holographic model to explain the shift of consciousness of those who undergo a NDE. According to the authors it is during death that our conscious shifts to a different dimension of the hologram. This explains why people, like Professor Kieu are able to recall what happens in the nonmaterial consciousness that occurs during a NDE. During Professor Kieu’s experience she reached both low and high levels of consciousness. According to the article, “An Approach to Prove the Existence of Afterlife by Analyzing Near Death Experience’s Data with Mathematical Logic” by Arindam Kumar Paul, Liton Devnath, and Md. Rafiqul Islam. The authors depict a mathematical equations to determine one’s level of consciousness in relation to their time coordinate. In class we discussed the flaws of this equations -- there is no real way of being able to measure someone’s consciousness. So, I ask, is there a way to tie these two theories together, by connecting the fields of mathematics and quantum physics, in order to come up with a way to measure one’s level of consciousness?
