Week 1 - Matthew Mandel
This week we look at near death experiences or NDE, this situation has always been one that boggles many physicists and researchers since these situations are unexplainable. Many of the patients who came in and out of the hospitals, with these near death experiences, were interviewed and asked about the feelings and state of consciousness they had while going through these situations. Many patients, for example Caroline Valverde can recall the experiences she had, she explains that she had full consciousness of the mind but couldn’t physically move. In one of the readings we find that physicists Contzen Pereira and Shahih Reddy tried to solve how these situations could have come about using quantum mechanics. Others have tried to used mathematical equations to solve these same situations and figure out as to why the consciousness can take over in these times of near death experiences.
Since I have come from a background of science that always has an answer, it’s still hard for me to get around these situations and think that their is some higher power that helps us get through these situations. Not saying there is not, but since all these cases are unexplainable I still don’t see as to why the patients aren’t just dreaming this stuff. Since you are almost in a paralyzed state and ones body may be essentially failing, the only part thats still working is the brain, so whose to say that all these conscious thoughts are not just some dream. As far as them regaining full health I too can’t explain that, but for them to have full consciousness also doesn’t make sense. I feel like its just one big dream, because if you can’t even open your eyes then essentially you are just in a dream. Many of these situations are very unique and are incredible but until further research is done on my part I can’t make a proper critique on any of these situations.
Question:
Could a person just be in a deep sleep and dreaming rather then saying they have consciousness as people can’t explain these situations that occur while they are in the hospital?
