Week 1 - Spirit Realm and Near Death Experiences - Calvin Huang

 

While the concept of the spirit realm may seem too abstract or impossible, it is believed by many to exist.  Such existence may be hard to believe, but then again many things that were thought of to be impossible a couple centuries ago exist today.  Flying metals tubes shooting across the sky, relaying a message to somebody across the world in seconds, and even reaching the pale circle in the night sky were all thought to be impossible.  Even so, people today refer to anyone who suggest that there is another possible realm of existence are thought of as crazy or uneducated, whereas the opposite is true.  To be able to see the existence of another realm shows that their consciousness is at a higher level of understanding.  They are able to shed their limited range of scope and attain a new understanding of how to world works.

    These people did not usually reach a new understanding by choice.  One of the many methods that may help trigger a higher level of consciousness is by going through a near death experience (NDE).  This near death experience gives them an overwhelming obstacle to overcome, at a most critical time.  With this near death experience, their journey through their troubles gives a new outlook on what life is about.  To give a formal explanation, a “NDE belongs to a larger family of experiences that go beyond the usual limits of space and time and can transform a person's life and beliefs.”(3).  But many skeptics require a proof of evidence that the spirit realm exists.  That is one of the hardest answers to convey, since they have not experienced it for themselves.  According to the article cited below, the “time spanned during NDE to any person relatively, means his time is just of another co-ordinate which is not similar to our walking reality‘s time.”(6).  To prove the existence of the spirit realm would require advanced technologies that we do have have today, so the only other method of proving that the spirit realm exists is by going through a NDE.  That is why many people who have gone through NDE can see that the spirit realm exists.  

My parting question is to ask: What other methods are there that can bring to understanding of the spirit world like the way a NDE can?
