Week 1 - Spirit Realm and Near Death Experiences - Ryan Tong
Having a near-death experience gives people one of the entrances to the spirit realm. Whether or not the spirit realm exists, the idea itself of imagining an alternate dimension of the spirit realm is an exceedingly difficult task to accomplish.
The spirit realm itself has no concrete standing. It is a world that does not have explanations that can be explained with the premises of where we live in. Due to the spirit realm’s complex nature, many theoretical explanations have attempted to describe what occurs in the spirit realm.
In the research paper “An Approach to Prove the Existence of After Life by Analyzing Near Death Experience’s Data with Mathematical Logic”, Arindam Kumar Paul, Liton Devnath, and Md. Rafiqul Islam use math terminology to express how time flows in the spirit realm. Although math is usually used in a way with definite answers, this usage of mathematics was used to describe the many theories of the spirit realm, due to the spirit realm’s unique attributes.
I thought that the usage of mathematics to describe the spirit realm was offsetting in the sense of the math world, but I believe that it is a valid tool to describe the way time could flow. However, this leaves me and countless others so many unanswered questions. If the spirit realm has all these different characteristics that separate it from the real world, how is it so similar in so many cases of near-death experiences? People who encounter and experience a near-death experience tend to go through similar events, such as seeing their body, close friends and family, and the shimmering light of happiness. And to contradict that statement, why are there so many variations of the spirit realm? Despite having similar stories, the spirit realm can have a multitude of varying experiences, like in the case with Professor Valverde, where she encountered demons and a completely opposite case than happiness in her near-death experience. And finally, how does the spirit realm enhance your senses as opposed to a dream? How are the senses from the spirit realm different compared to that of the senses experienced in a lucid dream? Since there is more control of one’s awareness and own body are amplified in a lucid dream, I would like to know its similarities to the spirit realm.
