Week ^ - Matthew Mandel

This week we take a look at “My Mother Not My Mother” written by Professor Kieu Linh Valverde as she narrates her childhood story of this tragic yet very interesting story of who was really her mother as she did not grow up with her mother but her grandparents. From a very young age Professor Valverde always had a disconnection from who she really thought was her mother, as she saw photos from her youth but when she saw her in person, there was not a motherly connection, or you could say no spiritual connection between each other. Something inside Professor Valverde never felt right every time her mother came around which is why she didn’t let her be part of her life. But as she found out her mother is actually her aunt, whom she had a lot better connection with, the spirit started to align as everything seemed to come back into place.
Spiritually, our bodies can tell who is truly our parents and who isn’t. When you watch a movie and you see an adopted kid meet his mom or dad for the first time, they instantly know who it is, and as people we look passed that but spiritually there is something behind that. The minds line up together spiritually, since you are there child, therefore there will always be a connection, which is why Professor Valverde always felt a disconnection from whom she actually thought was her mom, where as her Aunt she had always had a better connection with.

Question: Can a person spiritually be disconnected with a father and know their father when they see him, as it could be easier with the mother, as their is a maternal characteristic behind it.
