Week 1: Miguel Flores
Lucid Dreaming: The Bridge
I'm familiar with lucid dreaming and I have done it a couple of times, lucid dreaming is dreaming with intention and you have full control of your dream. For this week's assignment, we were tasked to dream with an intention, I put my knowledge on lucid dreaming to the test and find out if I am able to setup my dream based on what I wanted.
Before, I've dreamt about images of loved ones that passed away and there were symbols that became prominent throughout my dreams images such as a butterfly, me tying a knot, or I have witnessed in my dreams where my teeth falls out. Some of these images have a negative connotation to it, but as I read on similar dreams that were interpreted by others there's a complex meaning behind it. For some, symbols and certain images can mean a struggle or an obstacle you are going through while some varies based on the current state of the dreamer. Many tarot card readers have definitely developed an understanding and connections to images or symbols that are hard to explain. The image of the Hanged Man when it appears in a tarot card reading can mean several things, although many people think that a Hanged Man in a tarot card reading can only mean bad thing, Hanged Man may appear in different ways, but the interpretation and the person translating these appearances are equipped with a spiritual understanding about your state.
Just like tarot card readings, images and scenes in your dreams vary based on the state of your consciousness, emotional, and spiritual being. Dreams are profound and sometimes, according to spiritual mediums, a gateway for the spiritual world to communicate to people. I've encountered a dream of my grandma two days after she passed away. We have already migrated to the United States and our family did not have the closure and opportunity to say goodbye to her. The dream of my grandma was as clear as day, she stood on a hill holding her cane under a big luscious oak tree. She was angelic and I stood to stare at her radiating figure; she smiled back at me when I made eye contact. Her image faded away and I woke up crying. I told my mom about this dream and she also experienced the same thing. Whatever you want to call it, the realm of dreams is an expansive and un-explainable universe.

In the middle of the night, I tried to record as much as I can before I forget the minute details that happened in my dream. |
Going back to lucid dreaming, I mentally prepared to meet by the bridge. I was thinking about bridges I know and I kept mental images of it in my mind until I fell asleep. I dreamt of a narrow bridge, a bridge that looked like an ocean dock - not the kind of bridge that stuck on my mind. The environment was dark and isolated and the bridge was only illuminated by a very faint light that was coming from above me. The source of the light was unidentifiable, but on that bridge were people walking towards the opposite direction where I was going. I reached the middle of the bridge and I stood there for a long time, I stared at the people passing by, but they did not have faces. They were almost floating when they passed by me and none of them respond when I asked "Where does the other end lead to?" Suddenly a voice responded: "Choose the right path and you'll know." I faded away and woke up - I kid you not, I woke up at 3:00 am in the morning. I don't know what the voice meant, but it gave me a little assurance that whatever path I choose to take there could be unexpected things that may happen. That was a revelation to me and I guess an answer to what I have been looking for because I recently start questioning all the decisions I have been making. That answer could be a warning that my path to whatever I am looking for will be something I could see coming.
