Week 1 - Pryanka Narayan

                  Personally, I have never had an encounter with the supernatural, but have always been a believer. My strong belief has oriented from the stories I have heard,  from people who are very close to me. For instance, my mother was raised in Fiji, and during her childhood, her father suddenly fell deathly ill. Her mother took her father to doctors, and priest, but no one could find the underlying factor that was causing his illness. So she sought help from a priest who knew and practiced dark magic. The priest told her mother, that one of their neighbors had gone to another priest who practiced dark magic, had asked to perform a hex on her father, and then tied a cursed yellow ribbon to a tree. He instructed them to break the curse, they would have to find the yellow ribbon, and the priest would then come to their home to perform a prayer. My mom and her mother went to their yard and indeed found a yellow ribbon. They told the priest, he came and performed a prayer, and my grandpa was completely cured.


               Another supernatural event had occurred to my younger sister. My sister and I both attended a hybrid middle and high school known as School of Engineering and Sciences in Sacramento. The school had just been built and was fairly small. One day during her P.E. class, her friend and her went to the restroom. While they were washing their hands, they suddenly heard a baby's cry coming from one of the stalls. They were startled as there was no one else in the restroom except them. So bravely they both opened the stall where the cries were coming from but saw nothing. The cries were getting louder and terrified, they ran out of the bathroom to their teacher. They both told their teacher, about the frightening and mysterious baby cries, and the teacher told them a horrifying truth. Years before the school was built, and when it was just an empty plot of land, a murder had occurred there. A boyfriend had killed his pregnant girlfriend and had buried her body exactly where the bathroom was built. My sister and her friend were shocked, but in disbelief, so they did research on their own and found that their teacher was telling the truth.
