Week 1: Stacey Kling - Unexplainable Scratches & Haunted Houses
It wasn't until the first day of this class that I realize I've had many encounters with spirits. When I came to Davis, I spent a lot of time at my partner's house on Arthur Street in West Davis, which was haunted. This is confirmed by several instances that have occurred during our time living there.
One night, it was raining really hard and the next day, a muddy handprint was found on the side of the house. It was the size of a child's hand and was in a placement in such a way that looked like the spirit was peeking into the home. Many times, our dog would also be peeking into the dark hallway that connected the front part of the home to the back. Another time, one of our housemates was talking about how he saw an old man walk into his room in the middle of the night. One instance that shook me the most was when I was getting ready for school one morning and the fan that I had in my room suddenly turned on! I was so scared and felt my heart beat out of my chest. I yanked the chord out of the outlet and left the room without brushing my teeth and left for school. When I talked to my friends about it, they told me that there was probably an electric current that made the fan turn on, but I didn't believe them.
All throughout my teen years up until now, I would also occasionally wake up with scratches on my body - mostly my arms, calves, and waist. I thought that I would just scratch myself in my sleep, but I started to notice that the scratches were in odd shapes/lines that would be difficult to make on my own. Most recently, over the Spring Break, I woke up one morning and had very strange scratches on my calf. After the first day of this class, I am convinced that maybe a spirit has done it to me. What do you think?
