Week 6 Christian Ho
This week regards the use of spiritual practice and its application
to pregnant women. All countries have their own beliefs and culture when it
comes to pregnant women, and thus have different spiritual practices in the Middle
East or Southeast Asia region. With the readings spiritual practice has adapted
to these modern times and provides services for pregnant women and their newborn.
The idea is to integrate modern spiritual practice with modern medicine to provide
a better and more efficient experience for the women that are pregnant. Spiritual
practice is widely more accepted within these type of regions with caring for pregnant
women and their newborns, by integrating these practices into modern medicine
and technology will the general population be more accepting of the new
medicines. It is suggested to students starting to study in the medical field
to be more involved with culture of their future patients to better take care
of them. It’s the opposite within the United States with culture having less of
an influence on patients getting help, instead to they rely more on modern
medicine. Areas that do not rely too much on modern medicine is the less industrialized
countries and rely on spiritual medicine for their healing, this correlates
with the amount of access of modern medicine available to those in less
developed countries.
Is there an actual area where both spiritual practice and
modern medicine works in harmony with one another?
