Week 7- Natalie Velazquez

In Robert Lanza's article"A New Theory Of The Universe", he states that "A full understanding of life cannot be found by looking at cells and molecules through a microscope". He then explores and critiques current day science and how it fails to recognize those special properties of life that make it fundamental to material reality. Lanza believes that humans need a revolution in our understanding of science and of the world. As we live in an age dominated by science, we believe in an objective, "empirical reality" and in the goal of reaching a complete understanding of that reality. He states that most of these comprehensive theories are no more than stories that fail to take into account the crucial factor that we are creating them. As it's the " biological creature that makes observations, names what it observes, and creates stories". He believes that science has not succeeded in confronting the element of existence that is at once most familiar and most mysterious "conscious experience". Lanza concludes that the primary questions of the universe have been undertaken by physicists who are trying to explain the origins of everything with grand unified theories. Thus, being an evasion of the mystery of knowledge.
