Christine Chau - Week 2

In this week's theme of "Near Death Experience" it reminds me of the "light at the end of the tunnel", the life or death moments where people are fighting for their lives, and the one question people often wonder, "what do we see in the last moments of our breaths?" I myself have asked this question countless of times. Even though many of us will not know the answer until we are near our own death experiences, there are those out there who have experienced this and have told their stories. Professor Valverde herself has shared pieces of her story in her near death experience. Many people say near death experiences can vary culturally, but the western experiences are the ones most studied. Many say that they feel as if it's "more real than real life". My question is that can we reach these near death experiences with psychedelics, in a safely manner? It's almost near impossible since we do not know what classifies as a near death experience, but what if people have encountered them but have not realized that is what you experience near death? How can we normalize these things to allow people to be able to freely experiment with drugs in order to get in touch with another reality? Why is it so illegal for people to want to experience out of world things on their own? Why has the government put such a bad sigma on all these drugs that can allow for creativity or other out of body experiences? I hope further down we can investigate and have a conversation about these topics.

Near-death experiences: Fact or fantasy?
