For Week 2: “Near Death cases desegregating non-locality/disembodiment via quantum
mediated consciousness: An extended version of the cell-soul pathway."
The
article asserts that there are two forms of consciousness associated with the
cell-soul pathway, bodily consciousness, and functional consciousness. While
both are present in the body, functional consciousness might get disembodied
and operate without a host. The paper applies quantum entanglement theory to
explain the disembodiment that is cited in several near-death experiences. The
article provides an in-depth explanation for the disembodied state that happens
in near-death experiences, in many ways undercutting various arguments cited
against the phenomenon. By citing the zero-point point field referenced in
quantum physics, the authors illustrate how consciousness and memories do not
necessarily have to be localized in the body but rather occur through the
holographic principle.
While
the explanation for disembodiment relies on quantum physics, a captivating
branch of physics to many scientists, the idea that an individual experiences
consciousness when they are clinically dead also resonates with the spirit
realm. The spirit realm is often regarded as the external environment of
spirits, that while different from the natural world, supplements and
complements the activities in the natural world. These two worlds are in
constant interaction. Similarly, while embodiment occurs without a host,
information creation, gathering, and transfer during this particular state only
occur due to the entanglement of the two states of consciousness.
The authors rely on near-death
experiences, which often clinically last a few minutes. Indeed, the authors
openly admit that they lack the capacity and the resources to determine whether
functional consciousness, which is the leading cause of non-local conscious
experiences, actually exists after death (Pereira and Reddy 960). Therefore,
the current assertions on the extension of the cell-soul pathway rely on
limited data associated with near-death experiences that might also be linked
to a multitude of reactions that have nothing to do with disembodiment,
depending on the situation at hand.
