Raymond Trinh - Week 2

Throughout my childhood, I have never encountered the topic of near death experience until this class. While growing up my family and I are fortunate that we have not lost any loved ones. Therefore, in a household of Chinese teachings, my parents avoided the topic of death until my adolescent years. In the research essay, Near-Death Case Segregating Non-Locality/Disembodiment via Quantum Mediated Consciousness: An Extended Version of the Cell-South Pathway, the authors Contzen Pereira and J Shashi Kiran Reddy explores the word “soul” in the cell-soul pathway does not have a scientific definition but has been hypothesized to be an indefinite, non-structured, massless energy made up of electromagnetic radiations that is confined in the cytoskeletal network of a living cell. Both authors state that “It is a coherent, imperceptible, uncontainable and recyclable support pathway, which uses energy to promulgate consciousness in the cell supporting its functions” (2015).Throughout this research essay, two forms of consciousness are presented and consistent with a recently developed model by Reddy. Bodily consciousness mangages functions only at a cellular level, and functional consciousness, which is present in the body but can get disembodied and perform non-locally. These two forms of consciousness represent the overall states of consciousness. While exploring the topic of near-death experience more, I’ve come to realize there are positive and negative experiences. Near-death positive experiences may occur in a variety of sensations including detachment from the body. For example, some personal experiences include the feelings of flying, security, warmth, and the presence of light. On the contrary, negative such expriences may include sensations of torment and torture. Furthermore, near-death experiences are a recognized part of some transcendental and religious beliefs in an afterlife.

What really causes the replay of memories during the near death experience?
Are there similarities of the NDE?
