SHENMIAO WANG WEEK1
A Singaporean student was attacked on the streets of London, England, on February 24, and suffered serious facial injuries. The London Police Agency said the case was racist. COVID-19 is raging around the world, and various countries have been attacked one after another. Following the outbreak of the US epidemic, Trump directly referred to COVID-19 as the "Chinese virus" and insisted on not changing the name on the grounds that "the virus is from China, there is no doubt". While public health officials were fighting COVID-19, some Chinese Americans were worried that the Chinese community would be affected as the panic about the virus turned into a panic about the Chinese. Most Americans live their lives as usual, and they confidently believe that there is nothing to fear from this disease, which is prevalent mainly abroad. But for a small group of people, including those who come from China or travel frequently to China, and the health workers responsible for fighting the virus, their lives have been reversed. Hundreds of Americans who once lived in Wuhan are currently isolated at military bases, anxiously waiting for the end of the isolation period. Many Asian Americans in the United States felt disturbing public scrutiny. They noticed that just a cough or a sneeze can scare away the people around them.
Question:
Why can these politicians hide the truth regardless of the safety of the people for their own benefit?
