Bradley Kitaoka - Week 6
I
thought the reading for this week was interesting. The main reason why I
thought this was because I felt like it was related to what the topic is for my
group project. For my group we are looking at comparing the methods of medicine
in the modern (western) and traditional (cultural) standards. Also, our
presentation for class will be showing how both methods are useful and one is
not better than the other. In this article they talked about how traditional
styles of healing could be integrated and used together in the future. In one
part of the article they say how spiritual techniques can be implemented in the
medical field and psychiatric field. In this section they also list the vast
improvements that could come from combining the different strategies. Overall,
I really enjoyed the reading and I believe this is the direction the medical
field should move forward in. I really do not see any major negative issues in
combining the two. I feel that only positive outcomes would come from this as
it gives people different opportunities to become healthier.

Question: Do you think that a combination of spiritual and
western techniques will become more mainstream in the future?
