Christine Chau - Week 9

This week's theme of Future of spirit realm studies, it has given me the idea to reflect on this quarters class and how it impacted my idea of spirituality. I have been able to reach out to more friends and recommend them tips and ideas we have learned in class. At first they do look at me a little crazy but I always have to explain to them that western society and the way we have grown up made it seem that all of these studies seem "crazy". Even though the spirit realm studies have been more known and integrated in modern medicine, I am curious to see what medicine would be like in another two or three decades. The future of spirit realm studies has a great future ahead of them because I think more people have tools and resources to learn from and to grow. From Dr. Vest's guest lecture, she noted that nowadays you have mentors and guidance who aren't familial, whereas her time, or possibly even before her time, a lot of people had to learn through their family. From my personal family, I know I have some aunties who have experienced being a medium and being able to connect deeply into the spiritual world. For some reason, my grandmother told them to never speak of the things they hear or say, that it is a "bad" thing. It's crazy to think how many perspectives there are on spirit realm and the study of it simply because not everyone can be in tune with themselves to understand or have the tools to do proper research. When I tell people I am taking a spiritual realm class here in Davis, they are instantly shocked. So I hope there's a day where taking classes like these is normalized, or even more classes are offered so more people can be educated about them. Perhaps even spiritual guiding classes or introduction classes in person for people to be able to learn more about themselves and their capabilities
