Macrina Mackan - Week 8

The theme for this week is spirit realm in academia. We tend to think of academia as being purely scientific, but more and more spirit realm concepts have been contributing to it. For this week we had a few readings, one being "A New Theory of the Universe". This article's main point is biocentrism and how it adds to the physics of the world. Biocentrism revolves around the way a subjective experience, which we call consciousness, relates to a physical process. What this means is that we put a big emphasis on biology in trying to explain the world, instead of other things as was done before. I was especially drawn to the short anecdote the author recalls at the beginning of his article. He talks about a dark night where he finds glowworms on the side of the road. The author then seems to spiral into this scientific thought process, asking questions about these glowworms and their experiences in and of the world. These questions all line up with his knew theory on viewing the universe. I found it fascinating to see that a question so old is still generating new answers to this day. The author puts a big emphasis on biology to solve this mystery, but I believe there is something more we need. We have seen more spirit realm concepts being applied to answer the world's biggest mystery, bring more attention to such practices. I think that these concepts can help answer some questions and bring clarity to the world.
