Michael Chow - Week 8

This week's topic was on consciousness. Consciousness is an extremely interesting thing to ponder because it is such a non-understood topic in science. I believe, when science cannot explain something adequately, it is appropriate to look beyond science. The idea of consciousness is something we don't even think about until we become older and become introspective. What does it mean to be alive? What does it mean to be conscious? What's the underlying difference, other than, you know, an actual understanding of what is happening in life? I believe consciousness needs to be studied much further, as we still don't even know what organisms are consciousness and what is required for consciousness to exist within an organism. Is consciousness an evolutionary trait? How many levels of consciousness are there? This subject highly interests me and I hope to live to find out one day what the origin, meaning, and reason that consciousness is something we experience.
