Week 6 Topic: Science catches up to the Spirit Realm

Article: ‘You are here’: Locating ‘Spirituality’ on the Map of the Current Medical World

Most of the world’s underlying problems are interconnected, meaning a single approach will not work for all the health challenges we face. The current health system faces challenges whose solutions depend on alternative methods.  The field of complementary and alternative medicine comprises various departments, with each focusing on restoring health and enhancing patient-health provider connectedness. Such clinical interventions focus on the integration of spirituality in healthcare. Clinical chaplaincy addresses the underlying shortcomings of conventional medicine because it integrates divine intervention. Despite the uncertainty of current medical interventions, spiritual interventions contain all the solutions for these problems. Religion plays a crucial role in ensuring the general wellness of the human body and soul. As noted by Ramakrishnan in his article, we need to integrate evidence-based clinical practice and spiritual-theological concepts in our healthcare system.
