Week 6 - Xie Ao

In today's robust growth in which technology is the number one growth, there are limits to the humanist argument against science.
Thus, there are two trends of mutual influence or integration.
Under the influence of humanistic thoughts, scientism thoughts permeate the influence of humanistic thoughts, that is, the human culture of scientism. Generally speaking, science is regarded as a cultural phenomenon and the expression of human nature is taken into consideration. Therefore, science should be understood from the perspective of culture or human nature.
At the same time, under the influence of scientism, the humanism trend of thought permeates the scientism trend, that is, the scientization of humanism. In general, humanism tries to base its views on scientific facts and tries to transform itself with scientific standards.
It can be polished from above: scientism and humanism are opposite in nature, but they influence each other, that is, there is no absolute opposition to them.
From this can be derived such evidence: there are both reasonable and unreasonable places.
Initially, the scientific spirit at the forefront of scientism was justified, but it was unreasonable for it to emphasize on the scientific standard to demand all other cultural phenomena, that is, it regarded science as the only standard cultural model.
It is reasonable for humanism to promote the humanistic spirit, but it is unreasonable for it to oppose the "instrumental rationality" of science, or even to be hostile to science.
We should combine the rationality of the two, that is, the spirit of science and the spirit of humanity.
As can be seen from above, the scientific spirit mainly refers to the emphasis on the empirical, utilitarian, etc., with a particular emphasis on the "truth".
Humanistic spirit is to show the value of people, that is, people's "ultimate care", "spiritual pursuit" and so on, emphasizing the "good", "beauty".
